The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture (RSA) is the country’s national academy of art and promotes contemporary Scottish art.

Under the direction of distinguished artists and architects, the RSA embodies a wealth of professional experience in fine art and architecture.

The Academy has a long history, which is reflected in its extensive collections and archives, and recognised as of national significance to Scotland.

Founded by Eleven artists in 1828, The RSA was originally called the Scottish Academy, and became the Royal Scottish Academy when it was granted a royal charter in 1838.
