Greyfriars Kirk was founded in 1620 in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. It was the first church built in Scotland after the Reformation.
The National Covenant was signed here in 1638.
The church is a welcoming, inclusive community, and responds to local needs in various ways, especially through the Greyfriars Charteris Centre and the Grassmarket Community Project.
The Kirk is also popular for arts events, social gatherings, wedding receptions and tourists.
The Story of Greyfriars – a short documentary about this inspiring community.
