Princes Street from the West, Edinburgh

Trams, Cars, People, Horses and Carts live in harmony on Scotland’s most famous street.

This postcard, published around 1903, shows Princes Street looking east towards Calton Hill.

A policeman controls the traffic at the junction with Lothian Road – nearby, the Sinclair Fountain.

On the left, a shop sunshade for Maule’s, the department store, later known as Binns and now the Johnnie Walker Experience.
